For a good solid two years, Yo Gabba Gabba was in some heavy rotation in our house. My girl was a huge fan and a full blown YGG obsession started to spread among the toddler crowd. Well, that girl is now 4 1/2 and Austin Moon now trumps DJ Lance and friends. Le sigh. For this mom who cannot stand to listen to any sort of children’s programming, I could tolerate Yo Gabba Gabba. I mean, who doesn’t love a “ska-toon”?
Every November the Yo Gabba Gabba tour comes to town and we’ve gone the last two years. I’m starting to think that it’s not going to happen this year. I guess it just makes me sad because my baby is growing up and she’s so over it. Can I just keep her small for a little bit longer? I can’t handle her new found love for makeup and talk of her future husband (even though we love her choice!).
All this change makes me want to reminisce and therefore I thought I would share one of my favorite posts. This originally ran in early 2011 but I thought I’d re-run it again as we bid adieu to Foofa, Toodee, Muno, Brobee, Plex and DJ Lance Rock.

Forget Barney, we were attending extravagant and fabulous Yo Gabba Gabba themed parties!
My good friend, Fran, brainstormed for months on creating Gabba Land for her daughter’s 4-year-old birthday party. She had ideas for miles and blew my mind when we got to the party. The kids played “There’s a Party in my Tummy” bean bag toss, they crafted “I Like Bugs” bug houses, did a photo shoot with a life-sized Foofa, and donned the DJ’s signature orange hat. All the food you see below was painstakingly made from scratch by Fran’s mom. She’s crazy talented and I know for a fact that these photos have gone viral on Pinterest. Oh, and not only is everything insanely cute – it was all delicious too.

These are pin-worthy, don’t you think?
How great are these Yo Gabba Gabba birthday ideas? Are you inspired?
Which Yo Gabba Gabba party snack is your favorite? I wish I would have photographed all the cupcakes. You can see a couple of the other character cupcakes in the photo with the cake. And speaking of that cake… Inside, the most beautiful rainbow layers I’ve ever tasted.
Remember I mentioned that live Yo Gabba Gabba show? The first one we attended featured my favorite Foo Fighter – Dave Grohl. He sat with his family a couple of rows behind us but dropped it like it was hot during the special “Dancey-Dance.” You might be able to hear me scream a little in the video. I big puffy heart Dave Grohl.
Thanks to Yo Gabba Gabba for the great memories!

AMAZING party – wow!
My kids are 9 and 11, way past kid show age, and I admit to sometimes stopping at the occasional Dora or Sesame Street when channel flipping and no one’s watching me
The new ones start up on the 19th and we’re pretty excited! DJ Lance Rock that silly party animal.
My oldest was old enough that she didn’t catch the Yo Gabba Gabba craze and the little one missed it because of the older sister. I have to say… I’m kind of glad. Those toddler/preschool programs are just so annoying. I would rather watch Phineas and Ferb any time.
I really can’t stand most kid’s TV and characters, licensed merch, etc., but I secretly LOVE Yo Gaba Gaba. Actually, it’s not much of a secret. Brobee rocks! On a serious note, I can’t imagine how you must feel with your babies outgrowing things. I get so sad whenever my toddler outgrows a baby toy!
Oh my goodness…those are AMAZING party ideas.
Aren’t they? Thanks so much for stopping by and commenting, Amy!
Love these SO MUCH. Adin is huge into Yo Gabba – but I’m late to the party. I wish I could have gone to these events with you (and Nic). We’re waiting on the Gabba event this year – had great third row seats on Ticketmaster and let them go because I know Adin isn’t quite there yet. Next year – let’s hope they are still around!!!
