Thanks for the birthday wishes yesterday! It wasn’t a milestone birthday and though the day felt like any ordinary Tuesday – I definitely felt the love from around the way — so, thank you! Before I jump into day 6 of the 31 Day Blog Challenge – click on over to my Instagram to see what how I celebrated my birthday!
The 31 Day Blog Challenge hosted by Fabulous Finds by Tiffany has really pushed me to write every night. Some days, I’m plain tapped out on what to blog about. Cancer? Ugh. Food? Meh. My inability to lose one single pound? Not again. So, I’m loving this project. Hope you are too.
Tiffany wants me to write about my last random act of kindness. Hmmm…
I try really hard to be kind in my every day life. But, when asked to name the last time I randomly did something kind for someone…I’m stumped. I actually Googled “define random acts of kindness” and found this website. Here’s a couple of kindness ideas they suggested: help a child learn, help someone for free, hold the door open for someone, let someone go in line in front of you, be kind to someone you dislike, donate money, and encourage someone.
I’m reading their list and I’m thinking to myself: Who doesn’t do this kind of stuff? Not to pat myself on the back but I do these things regularly.
Don’t you?

I saved this guy from a street full of traffic. I’d consider that a random act of kindness. Click the photo to read the whole story!

I agree with you that some of those common courtesies seem like every day things most of us (hopefully) do every day. I always let the person with one item go ahead of me at the grocery store. I feel like a random act of kindness should be more than just every day things we do without thinking about. Like giving a flower to a neighbor, or something.
I feel the same way! My RAOK post was about letting a driver into traffic in front of me – because no one does that. I am starting to feel that common courtesies are gone, and that people need recognition just for doing the right thing!
I have to agree… a lot of those things listed are things that we should all be doing on a regular basis. It’s called just being nice… when did being nice stop happening?
I’m not sure when nice stopped happening (thanks Jackie!), but I am happy to know that there are still a few good eggs out there. And Kiffin’s story is so wonderful! You guys did an amazing thing! How is he doing?
I agree. Manners and common decency are now random acts of kindness. It saddens me. What a fantastic story about your dog. I love it. I also try to help any stray that I can.
Oh, and your birthday looked like a great day! I love the card.
Thank you! Me too!
